Canons new iW360 streamlines document workflow to boost office productivity

Digital imaging technology company , Canon UK, has launched a new version of its iW360 software to streamline document processes and produce seamless and productive document workflows.

Building on the strengths of previous iW360 software suites, the latest version has been completely re-developed to include a range of features that complement and act as an extension to Canons next-generation imageRunner Advance platform and to existing iR range devices.

Trevor Dodsworth, Head of Product Marketing, Canon Business Solutions, Canon UK says, European organisations are looking for ways to increase productivity and profitability. Canons iW360 was created to help simplify the way that organisations handle business documents. Canon is the first to offer a software package that effectively manages the complete lifecycle of a document, from capture, editing, sharing, saving and archiving through to publishing. The latest version of iW360 simplifies tasks and enables users to work closer and more effectively with one another.

iW360 boosts productivity at each stage of the document lifecycle. Handling both hard and electronic copy becomes simpler and faster for users, whether they are scanning, editing, collating, publishing or storing a document. By creating automated workflows through each of these stages using iW Function Flow, previously time-consuming tasks involving a number of separate actions can be transformed into a small number of quick and simple clicks of a button.

Customers will purchase iW360 Client and can add a Server option delivering an extra layer of functionality and increased collaboration. Data and documents can be stored in applications such as Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server and shared libraries which enable users to control the collaboration and editing process. Only one person can enter a file at any time ensuring that the latest version is always selected. In addition, iW360 Server will notify users when any changes are made to a relevant document. If incorrect information or edits are saved, users can roll back to previous versions.

iW360 also represents a powerful publishing tool allowing users to collate documents and images from any file type which is supported by a users PC, to build a single, editable document with consistent fonts, colours and formats and headers. This document is then displayed in exactly the same format on-screen as it will appear in print, making it ideal for proofing.

Trevor Dodsworth continues, Organisations that work in document-intensive environments will significantly cut the time employees spend working on the administration of business documents. iW360 will also enable any organisation that handles specific projects to produce professional-looking reports in just two or three minutes.

Canon iW360 will be available across the UK from 1st December 2009.
