ScanSource Europe organises 45-hour WLAN Gaming Party to test Motorola wireless equipment

ScanSource Europe and Motorola Enterprise Mobility Solutions are organising a 45-hour non-stop WLAN Gaming Party in Brussels, 2-4 October, 2009.

During the event, 100 gamers will play a variety of state-of-the-art games in a wireless network built up with Motorolas best-in-market wireless solutions. Simultaneously, a group of international hackers will attempt to take down the WLAN.

ScanSource suggested this initiative to Motorola to challenge the rich performance and security specifications of Motorolas AirDefense Enterprise Wireless Intrusion Prevention System, RFS6000 Wireless Switch and AP7131 Access Point. These Motorola wireless products are designed to stop any form of intrusion, says Phil Boyd, ScanSource Partner Services Director. If we are recommending these products to our customers to ensure 100% security, then we are going to give them the most intensive testing possible.

ScanSource has already completed a number of certified trainings on these Motorola products, and daily receives questions from dealers on how to use, configure, demonstrate and associate them to Wi-Fi networks. The WLAN Gaming Party will enable our specialists to put all of these skills into use in the most intensive environment imaginable, says Boyd. It will therefore give us valuable real-life experience to add to our classroom knowledge.

This is the second such event organised by ScanSource. The first was held in March this year, involved around 50 gamers, and greatly benefited both ScanSource and Motorola. At Motorola we are continually pushing the boundaries of usage on our latest products, and we are very confident that the products being tested will come through this tough examination, says Patrick Groot Nuelend, Product Marketing Manager EMEA, Motorola. With IT systems holding and transmitting more and more sensitive information, its absolutely essential that we clearly demonstrate that serious hackers are unable to intrude our wireless networks.

The WLAN Gaming Party in Brussels marks an increasingly close partnership between ScanSource and Motorola, with both companies equally providing a considerable amount of time, manpower, product and finance. Representatives from technical, sales, marketing, commercial and management are all involved, with both companies committed to openly share ideas and information to benefit their customers.

The Gaming Party starts at the Centre Joli-bois in Woluwe-St-Pierre, Brussels on Friday 2 October at 20.00 and finishes on Sunday 4 October at 17.00. Gamers will play continuously during this time, with opportunities to eat and sleep when necessary.
