Maxatec to introduce new mobile computing device

Maxatec is to introduce a new Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 terminal, the Maxatec HH 8010, which is to complement its current range of mobilecomputing devices that operate predominantly on Microsoft Windows CE (R) 5.0. The new HH 8010 terminal will take advantage of Microsoft's recent enhancements in Windows Mobile 6(R) for innovative applications.

Andrea Percival, managing director of Maxatec said: "As the mobile solutions market continues to grow, the demand is increasing for Windows Mobile, We already provide products for a number of mobile computing applications in a variety of business areas, but to date we have been limited, as our offering has been based on Windows CE(R) 5.0. The addition of the Maxatec HH 8010  opens up a number of new areas to us and we can now satisfy the demand we are seeing from our customers. There is a plethora of mobile computing devices available on the market today, and we have therefore chosen the HH 8010 carefully so that we can compete with a product that is well specified and offers real value for money."

Andrea continued: "Mobile applications offer companies so many advantages and they are increasingly being introduced to perform a variety of business tasks. It enables companies to stay connected with their mobile workforce and allows them instant access to relevant information. More and more industries are becoming mobilised, resulting in a very dynamic and interesting market."

The Maxatec HH 8010 has as standard WWAN connectivity through GSM/GPRS/EDGE (2.5G), Bluetooth or WiFi capabilities, and a barcode reader with HHP 2D imager. The HH 8010 comes as a kit for either standard applications or for use in-vehicles. The kit comprises neck lanyard, hand strap, mini USB cable and headset, mains charger or vehicle charger, battery and soft case. The HH 8010 is available in yellow or black as standard, and other colour options are available but on a longer lead time. The mobile computing device is backed by a standard 12-month warranty.

According to technology research firm Gartner, smart phones are the fastest growing segment of the mobile phone market, so it's no surprise that business applications are continually being developed to take advantage of this technology. Today, many people work in remote office environments, such as the travelling salesman or deliveryman, field service agent or health care professional. Mobile devices provide an excellent solution for the reading and transmission of data anytime, anywhere.

The Maxatec portfolio of products also includes a range of mobile computing devices such as rugged tablet PCs (http://www.maxatec ), handhelds and PDA devices.
