Toshiba has extended its distribution agreement with Trident, now an Avnet company, to include all Avnet Embedded businesses in France, Germany and Italy. As a value added distributor, Avnet Embedded will now distribute Toshibas growing range of TFT Liquid Crystal Displays across Europe.
The extension of the agreement adds Central Europe, encompassing Germany, Austria and Switzerland, plus France and Italy to the existing agreement which includes Trident in the UK, Benelux and Nordic regions. In France, Avnet Embedded trades through the specialist distributor Axess Technology, acquired with the Abacus Group in 2009.
Martin Brooks, vice president, Avnet Embedded, said: Trident already has a strong and successful relationship with Toshiba across Northern Europe. The growth of Avnet Embedded has provided the opportunity to extend this growing partnership to reach many new European customers.
Ted Schurch, general manager sales, added, Time to market and ease of development is critical to successful new projects; the integration of displays, processing, memory and software can be complex, and Avnet Embeddeds regional teams have a high level of expertise in all of these areas of system integration.
The TFT range from Toshiba is rapidly changing to meet the challenging needs of todays applications. Toshiba has an extensive range of Amorphous Silicon and Poly-Silicon displays to support the needs of a multitude of industrial customers.
The Toshiba range features a growing number of sizes with LED backlighting, which is becoming very popular for many applications for reasons of power consumption and backlight life. Another developing area is displays with integrated touch panels, which again speeds system integration.
All these developing technologies can be supported and utilised in customers new projects with the local help of the Avnet Embedded European team.
