TallyGenicom, a leading provider of focussed business printers, has announced that MBI, a division of Danbury Mint UK, is successfully utilising a variety of TallyGenicoms robust and reliable Line Matrix Printers.

MBI chose TallyGenicom as it required a cost effective solution to produce relevant invoices, statements of production dispatch lists and notes for outward goods.

MBI enjoys a high profile in the licensing industry, and currently holds licences for some of the most recognised football brands in the world, including, Chelsea FC, Liverpool FC and Manchester United.  It also works with household names such as Disney, Ford and General Motors. MBI ships tens of thousands of boxes of memorabilia monthly, so it needed a solution that could produce the correct documentation to ensure safe delivery to the right customer.  To support this operation, MBI required products that would be able to print a vast amount of mission-critical documents at great speed and with utmost reliability.

To meet these rigorous demands, MBI chose the TallyGenicom range of line printer technology, which were robust enough to withstand the rigours of heavy workloads now seen in todays financial departments and distribution centres. We ship tens of thousands of packages per month and we need to produce dispatch literature to accompany each shipment, explains MBI Network & Financial Systems Controller, Gary Langley. Another area where we use the printers is to produce invoices and statements of production, which are large, multi part documents. These prove no problem for the TallyGenicom printers.

To support its printing needs, MBI opted for a 6312, a 6090 and two 6312 line printers to cover day to day operations and produce mission-critical documents in a fraction of the time. Another key requirement was that the printers had to communicate with the organisations existing IBM system. The fact that TallyGenicom provides a Fastrack Engineering service, designed to improve operability of printers with current and legacy systems, was key to MBIs decision choose it as a printer supplier.

The printers have proved to be extremely reliable workhorses. I think the last time we had an engineer on site was over eight months ago and even then, it was only for general maintenance, observes Langley. The printers just keep producing all the documents we need. For example:  when we start to print a batch at 5am, it is completed by 11am and the only thing we have to do is collect the report.

We are delighted to be working with MBI and to deliver printers that meet its requirements, says TallyGenicom Senior Vice President for EMEA, Robin Edwardes. Clearly, it is important to provide organisations with reliable solutions that can integrate well with existing systems to limit capital expense during the times when IT budgets are limited. MBIs utilisation of Line Matrix Printers is a testament to the cost effectiveness and robustness of our printers. We are looking forward to continuing our relationship with MBI on a long term basis, given their opinion of our products and support services.
