Verari Systems delivers content storage without limitations

Verari Systems, a premier developer of independent blade-based computing and storage platforms for the data centre with the highest density, availability, and energy efficiency in the market, and Caringo Inc., a leading provider of content storage software, today introduced the DataValet clustered storage solution for unstructured content.

DataValet delivers economical, self-managing and self-servicing storage resources that dynamically change and scale from tens of terabytes to hundreds of petabytes according to business demands, while delivering the lowest cost of ownership over the entire content lifecycle. It is available now for use in Verari's high-density and energy-efficient BladeRack 2 X-Series platforms and FOREST container solutions.

Built on third-generation content addressed storage (CAS) technology from Caringo, Verari's DataValet solution eliminates the need to separate active and archive content while delivering the most complete set of features built-in to the architecture to meet the scale-out storage challenges and compliance imperatives of today and tomorrow. Applications such as email archiving; business records compliance; Web 2.0; and video surveillance are examples of applications that benefit from DataValet's scale-out architecture for active and online content.

"As Web 2.0 content and massive stores of unstructured data proliferate the enterprise, businesses are realizing that traditional, scale up SAN and NAS storage architectures are no longer an acceptable long-term strategy," said Dan Gatti, senior vice president of worldwide market operations, Verari Systems. "DataValet sets the standard for scale-out storage that is purpose built to enable enterprises to store, manage, distribute and protect vast amounts of online and archive data within a single architecture without the costs and complexity of traditional storage infrastructure."

"Caringo is pleased to partner with Verari to bring DataValet to market," said Mark Goros, CEO and Founder, Caringo. "Verari leads the industry with the highest density storage solutions and the combination of the two companies' technologies provides feature rich scale-out storage that is unmatched for performance, capacity and energy efficiency. This is great news for those industries where the growth of unstructured content or compliance requirements has placed a premium on manageability and lowering the total cost of ownership."

"The functional advantages of just-in-time, independent scaling of performance and capacity and the management advantages of automated provisioning, load balancing, life cycle management and compliance, make DataValet ideally suited as a scale-out solution," said Bill Maguire, CIO of Virgin America.

"Evaluating the overall affordability of Web 2.0 explosive growth goes beyond just comparing the per gigabyte acquisition cost," said Tony Bishop, Founder and CEO, Adaptivity. "It also includes evaluating ongoing management costs, the platform's ability to integrate with existing storage processes utilizing standard interfaces and the ongoing costs associated with power, cooling and floor space requirements. The scale-out architecture of Verari's BladeRack 2 X-Series platforms combined with DataValet's self-servicing, just-in-time provisioning and built-in compliance and regulatory features, delivers the lowest cost per gigabyte available and the lowest cost of ownership for online and active archival storage."
