Fluke Networks acquires intellectual property of Viola Networks

Fluke Networks has acquired the intellectual property of Viola Networks, including the technologies underpinning the popular and award-winning NetAlly product line.

The purchase of Violas technologies and source code will enable Fluke Networks to extend significantly its product lines further into VoIP analysis.  Terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed.

Fluke Networks continues to demonstrate our commitment to customers in the performance management space, said Paul Caragher, President, Fluke Networks.  Our prior integrations of the NetFlow Tracker and Visual UpTime product lines, the recent release of Visual Performance Manager 4.0, the addition of key senior management, and now the purchase of NetAlly all combine to give our Performance Management business the strength in people and product our customers require.

Fluke Networks solutions support both enterprise managers and service providers responsible for assuring application, network and VoIP performance. The newly acquired assets will enable Fluke Networks to provide comprehensive VoIP pre-assessment capability via cost effective software agents, deliver advanced active network performance assessment, and monitor VoIP infrastructures through call manager visibility.

"Nemertes Research has found that companies deploying third-party, VOIP-focused management tools can reduce per-user IP telephony operating costs by as much as 90%," said John Burke, Principal Research Analyst for Nemertes. "The more fully a tool set can address the complete lifecycle of VOIP in the enterprise, the greater the role it can play in such deployments."

NetAlly incorporates an active network test approach that is particularly adept at performing pre-deployment network assessments.  This complements Fluke Networks existing test methodologies, providing a complete picture of voice and data performance in both real time and through historical views.

Fluke Networks intends to rebrand and integrate elements of NetAlly into new products containing these capabilities as well as create extensions to existing Fluke Networks lines.
