Sharp has launched the next-generation of colour workgroup MFPs, which will offer businesses an affordable and high-quality colour service.

Benefiting from a sleek and stylish design, the MX series of MFPs will blend perfectly into any modern office, thanks to their textured finish and high quality colour 8.5" TFT touch screen.

There is a choice of two models: the 31 pages per minute (ppm) MX-3100N and the 26-ppm MX-2600N, whose new features include a simple operating system and robust security. Both models also offer superior productivity levels, enabling them to  provide a vital service for any company.

The new range utilises the strengths of previous models, but also incorporates some intelligent new features and works with Sharps integrated OSA solutions, so they deliver the environmental performance needed in offices today.

Kiran Sanghera, MFP Product Manager at Sharp said; These new machines are exceptionally fast working, making them perfect for organisations that require a high turnaround of document creation.  Theyre also the most stylish and innovative MFPs weve produced to date, with their sleek and textured exterior designed to compliment any office environment.

As well as providing output speeds of 26ppm and 31ppm respectively for both colour and black and white documents, the MX-2600N and MX-3100N also deliver full colour copy, networking printing and network scanning functions for documents up to A3 in size.

Superior performance and productivity

The use of a fast processor and advanced single-pass printing technology lets both machines print and copy in colour as quickly as they do in black and white. This is supported by rapid scan speeds of up to 50 originals per minute and a reduced warm-up time.

Other performance features include Tandem Print, which means that jobs can be finished twice as fast by sharing them between two machines, and Sharps Printer Administration Utility,(PAU). PAU is a web-based utility that lets network administrators quickly and easily manage fleets of MFPs direct from the desktop.

Both models have been designed to enable faster workflows and greater efficiency in the office. Document originals - which can be a mixture of colour and black and white in different sizes up to A3 - can be scanned in batches of 100 at a rate of 50 originals per minute and various file formats including XPS, TIFF, PDF, encrypted PDF and JPEG are supported.

Scanned documents can be saved directly to a PC, network destination or USB memory stick, emailed to any valid address or, with an appropriate application, automatically directed to an existing workflow thanks to Sharp OSA (Open Systems Architecture).

High quality, fully finished documents

Sharp has also formulated new oil-less toner and developer for the MX-3100N/MX-2600N, which was specially formulated to reproduce accurate, natural-looking colours, very fine lines, small characters and tricky halftones.

The new formulation, together with a true 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution and a useful range of finishing options for automatic stapling, saddle stitching and hole punching, gives any workgroup the ability to produce professional-looking documents in-house.

Enhanced ease of use

Even the most sophisticated functions of the MX-3100N/MX-2600N are easily mastered, thanks to a large 8.5 TFT colour touch screen colour panel, an optional retractable keyboard for data entry and a host of intuitive, user-friendly features including image previews and thumbnail views, plus a front-access USB port for walk-up printing and document filing.

A variety of document filing functions - some with encryption and password-protection - are supported by an 80 GB internal hard drive, making it easy to recreate jobs by accessing stored documents from the front panel display and/or from across the network.

Robust security

The new MFPs are equipped with a number of useful security features for protecting confidential information from deliberate or accidental interception.

Documents can be scanned directly into a password-protected encrypted PDF format; a PIN-protected printing function prevents documents from being left in the open by requiring the operator to be present at the MFP during printing, and the Document Control feature can be used to prevent controlled documents from being copied or scanned. SSL is supported to protect network communications from hacking attacks and an optional Data Security Kit, which adds data encryption and overwriting, is also available.

The next generation

The 31 pages per minute (ppm) MX-3100N and the 26-ppm MX-2600N will be available in a number of configurations. As the next generation of Sharps award-winning range, they have been designed to build on earlier successes while retaining the focus on quality, colour and performance across the full spectrum of print, copy, scan and fax functions.
