APC by Schneider Electric, a global leader in integrated critical power and cooling services, has announced the availability of parallel capability for its APC Smart-UPS VT three-phase power protection line.

Providing customers with greater flexibility for capacity growth and redundancy, this new functionality makes the Smart-UPS VT ideal for small data centres, large retail stores, regional offices, wiring closets, and applications with dense power requirements. Customers can now easily expand their power protection system by connecting up to four Smart-UPS VT units in a parallel configuration in any combination of capacity and redundancy.

The Smart-UPS VT family, currently available in 10-40kVA in 400V, offers centralised uninterruptible power protection with the Legendary Reliability of APCs award-winning Smart-UPS family. Its patented cool running three stage inverter technology delivers high efficiency even when operating at less than 30% load, a typical load for UPS running in parallel. The systems scalable runtime and modular design allows for easy expansion as necessary.

Adding parallel capability to our Smart-UPS VT product combines the benefits of flexibility and efficiency as well as helping guard against the possibility of outgrowing an existing UPS, said Isabelle Guillaume, APC by Schneider Electric vice president of Three-Phase Power Offer Management. The Smart-UPS VT is the easiest UPS in its class to deploy, manage and maintain.

Best-in-class efficiency and a reduction in rating of electrical infrastructure (wires, transformers, and generators) combine to make the Smart-UPS VT the most cost-effective three-phase power protection available. Dual-mains input, automatic and maintenance bypasses, intelligent battery management and input power factor correction ensure that power remains uninterrupted while keeping installation costs low.

Also, service time is greatly reduced through the use of hot-swappable batteries. Customers can manage, monitor, and control the UPSs from anywhere on their network through a simple, intuitive Web/SNMP interface.

The Smart-UPS VT units with parallel capacity are currently available worldwide except Japan.
