AVG Technologies, a leading provider of Internet Security software, has announced the continued strengthening of its UK management team with two new appointments.

Graham OReilly has been named regional sales director for UK & Ireland while Paul Westwood joins as marketing manager. Both new arrivals will enhance AVGs drive to raise brand awareness and further penetrate the consumer and SME Internet security software market.

Graham OReilly joins AVG from Formjet PLC, owners of Panda Software UK and Ability Software. In his role as divisional director, he positioned Formjet Innovations as a Tesco exclusive own brand software partner, as well as creating similar deals with other leading UK retailers. Prior to this Graham worked for Intuit Inc, makers of Quickbooks and Quicken financial software, where he managed the relocation of the companys UK customer contact centre to Alberta, Canada. He then returned to the UK to manage Intuits Accounting and Reseller divisions, both of which experienced the fastest growth in the company for this period.

Prior to AVG, Paul Westwood was marketing manager at BBG Distribution, a distributor of consumer electronics products, working with channel partners such as C2000 and Ingram Micro to increase brand awareness and support sales into major high street retail chains. Previously, Paul held a number of management positions including marketing manager at the UK operation of Ergotron, a manufacturer of LCD accessories and mobility products, selling through distribution with partners like Dell and Ingram Micro.

We are most pleased to welcome Graham and Paul to AVG. Between them, they bring a wealth of proven sales and marketing success and familiarity with consumer and small business technology markets, said Michael Foreman, managing director, AVG Technologies UK & Ireland. I believe they have exactly the right mix of personal drive and business acumen to help us achieve our market share growth and increased brand awareness goals.

Their first task will be to generate awareness and sales momentum for AVG Internet Security 8.0, the latest version of AVGs Internet Security software launched last month. AVG 8.0 delivers a significant number of new benefits to users, including the LinkScanner safe search and safe surf technology obtained through AVGs 2007 acquisition of Exploit Prevention Labs. AVG 8.0 is in the only product on the market today to protect users of Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers in real time against drive-by downloads from poisoned web pages and to flag dangerous search results in Google, Yahoo and MSN search engines.
