Datamax Auctions Off its Millionth Printer and Nets $25,000 for Make-A-Wish

Datamax Corporation marked the manufacture of its millionth printer by conducting an on-line auction of the printer to its worldwide partners. Proceeds from the highly successful auction, which totaled $25,000, have been donated to the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Central and Northern Florida.

The auction drew more than 60 bids from Datamax partners around the world, and the significant participation was evidence of the strong relationships the company has with its distributors and network of resellers. The Valued Partner Program, which we launched a year ago, has brought significant value to our partners, and the level of activity and participation in this auction is testimony that our partners want to share in our accomplishments and our successes, said Mark Bjerkestrand, chief executive officer for Datamax. The final winning bid came from ScanSource, a leading international distributor of specialty technology products.

Im pleased that ScanSource was part of this memorable event for Datamax, one of our important and longtime vendor-partners, and just as pleased that we could make wishes come true for some children with life-threatening illnesses, said Jeff Yelton, vice president of merchandising for ScanSource. I look forward to ScanSource being a part of Datamaxs two millionth printer celebration.

The second highest bid came from QCom Maintenance Limited, based in the United Kingdom, and is a leading provider of outsourced technical support and maintenance services for technology products. Thomco, Inc., a Datamax partner specializing in the meat packing industry came in third. Both QCom and Thomco pledged a portion of their final bid to the charitable fund. Honorable mentions go to several other partners who pledged money for the worthy cause, including Assembly Fasteners, Inc., based in Apopka, Florida, and Trim International Inc., headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan.

This was an important milestone for Datamax and I want to thank all those partners that helped to make our auction a success, and Im pleased that the real winner from this event is the Make-a-Wish Foundation and the children they help, concluded Bjerkestrand.
