Asigra Commissions White Paper to Storage Industry Expert Mark Ferelli

Asigra have announced the availability of a White Paper it has commissioned to storage industry expert, Mark Ferelli, on the subject of continuous data protection (CDP) and the importance of real-time backup for business critical documents.

Whereas other forms of backup such as RAID, replication, or mirroring only restore the most recent copy of the document, CDP allows you to retrieve your data from the exact point that it was lost, making it an essential resource for mission-critical data. This impacts on the Recovery Time Objective (RTO) by effectively reducing it to zero without the need for excessive backend storage accumulation to support the CDP functionality.

Mark Ferelli writes: Continuous data protection is the latest piece in an enterprises data protection arsenal. Asigra has redefined the CDP model and driven the cost of CDP deployment to zero by integrating CDP as a feature of its award-winning Televaulting remote office/branch office (ROBO) distributed backup software platform.

Continuous data protection radically enhances the level of protection we can provide for our customers mission-critical data, said Eran Farajun, executive vice president of Asigra. It further removes the data loss vulnerabilities between regular scheduled backups by optimising Recovery Point Objectives (RPO). At Asigra, we see CDP as an integral part of the backup solution, not a separate add-on product to be purchased, installed and managed.
