Design Inspired by Great North African Mountain Range

Extech Data Systems, a leading developer of portable printers for enterprise-wide applications, has introduced the Atlas 4 range of rugged, four-inch portable thermal printers that are ideal for label printing, as well as a printer for receipts, maps, and schematics. Designed to print in any orientation, the printer is easy to mount in a vehicle or carry on a belt or shoulder. The printer's wide range of media options makes the Atlas 4 the perfect mobile printing partner for many application needs.

The Atlas 4 features best-in-breed power management, full on board menu selections, a useful suite of integration and configuration utilities and tools, advanced security features on BluetoothT models, and emulations of popular printer brands. The Atlas 4 portable printer is a virtual drop-in solution for many existing mobile printing applications.

The Atlas 4 printer can withstand repeated 4-foot drops to concrete and is backed by a comprehensive standard warranty that covers the entire printer - case, battery and print head - for one full year. Many mobile printer vendors offer warranties limited to 90 days on the battery and six months on the print head. Extended warranties are available.

A variety of accessories are available including an AC wall adapter, a vehicle mounting bracket, multi-bay external battery charger, 3-track simultaneous read MCR and an environmental case.

The Atlas 4 produces high speed, high resolution direct thermal receipts and invoices and significantly reduces print time per receipt. A clamshell-style loading system with an easy to operate button release for the locking paper door makes changing the oversize paper rolls easy and convenient. The standard Atlas 4 model accepts a large continuous roll for a maximum number of print jobs between reloads. The Atlas 4L is a thermal label printer optimised for label printing and includes gap sensing.

A new extra-capacity rechargeable lithium ion battery enables more receipt prints per charge; the battery charges easily in the printer. The fast charge circuit with an auto switch to AC power is included on the mother board, not in the printer, making replacement batteries much more affordable.

The Atlas 4, designed to work with all portable terminals, ruggedised notebooks and tablet PCs in a variety of mobile computing applications including Route Accounting, DSD and Field Service, will add to Extech's position in the four-inch portable printing market segment.

The Atlas 4 logic is based on a highly integrated, state-of-the-art 32-bit processor that manages all of the features supported by the printer. Resident and downloadable features allow the addition of logos, bar codes and other graphic elements to the receipt.  Multiple communication interfaces include serial and three wireless options (IrDA; integrated BluetoothT radio or integrated 802.11b/g radio).

All Extech printers meet stringent operating standards and legislative requirements including CE and FCC compliance as well as certifications for environmental extremes and product safety.
