MGE UPS SYSTEMS, a world leader in high-availability power solutions, has launched three new, latest-generation, rackable, single-phase UPSs from 700 VA to 20 kVA for the protection of IT applications and network infrastructure.

The Pulsar, Pulsar M and Pulsar MX feature the ModularEasyTM system, a brand new technology for dynamic management of the paralleling and power extension of single-phase UPSs, as of 2 kVA. This technological advance is just one of an assortment of new features throughout the range, which has been designed specifically for increased manageability, flexibility and availability combined with a minimum cost of ownership.

Jason Koffler, UK Channel Sales Manager, comments, Until now, the acquisition cost of an upgradeable UPS was about 2.5 times the price of a single unit UPS. To avoid adding extra cost to IT Managers' initial budgets, the Pulsar M and Pulsar MX upgradeable UPSs are priced the same as single units UPSs. Users can add the ModularEasy paralleling kit at any time and upgrade to redundancy and uprating solutions simply and cheaply.  On the Pulsar MX UPS, the plug-and-play "MX Frame" can be used to upgrade from 5 to 20 kVA.

When the UPS plus ModularEasy are paralleled, the assembly automatically manages optimal application availability by switching, according to load changes, to power extension or redundancy mode.  This means that the remaining UPS power, sometimes underused by the protected equipment due to overrating, can be utilized to provide redundancy for backup. The supervision solutions instantly inform administrators of all operating mode modifications. They can even programme the sequenced shutdown of servers for each mode to ensure data integrity in all circumstances.

The new Pulsar range can be accompanied by MGEs new versions of its server power supply supervision solution, Enterprise Power Management V2 (EPM V2) and automatic server protection solution, Network Shutdown Module V3 (NSM V3).  EPM V2 provides global supervision of the entire installed UPS base, including complex configurations such as redundant UPSs, servers with redundant power supplies, and so on. NSM V3 manages the sequenced shutdown of servers protected by several redundant power supply sources.

On all the models, integrated or optional bypass solutions enable maintenance or upgrading operations requiring replacement of the UPS to be carried out without interrupting the power supply of the connected equipment.  On the Pulsar and Pulsar M models, the "HotSwap MBP" unit connection system allows a UPS to be replaced by another model or rating, ensuring continuous power supply even during maintenance or updating operations.

The new Pulsar, Pulsar M and Pulsar MX ranges replace the Pulsar EXtreme C, Pulsar EXtreme and Comet Extreme ranges.
