Prometheans interactive technology has transformed the delivery of training sessions for SETA Training and Advisory Services Ltd. The health and safety training and consultancy specialist has turned traditionally dry subjects such as environmental awareness and risk assessment, into exciting and inspiring group learning sessions.

SETA is currently using Promethean interactive whiteboard and wireless pad technology to teach the NEBOSH National and International General Certificate course, which helps non-specialists to understand their duties in workplace health and safety. Whilst the course is delivered at UK and European venues, Prometheans interactive products are also being used internally for staff meetings, at its Stockport based conference facilities.

Wireless radio technology allows tutors to use the interactive pads themselves or pass them around to other individuals in the room, meaning both trainer and trainees are involved and engaged in the presentation.

Interactive tools such as the annotation pen, highlighter, and an electronic flipchart for note-taking, have helped tutors to create dynamic, visually powerful training sessions that have broken the mould and are promoting greater participation in health and safety training.

Russell Prince, a director of SETA explains: Interactive technology is great for us, as its fun to use and eliminates the need for bulky paper flipcharts. Prometheans interactive whiteboard is much easier to use and extremely cost effective, as we dont need to buy additional resources anymore.

Mr Prince was attracted to Prometheans stand at the 2005 World of Learning conference. This led to the purchase of the products, with the company keen to invest in more of Prometheans interactive technology.

Steve Dracup, managing director at Promethean AV Distribution, comments: Prometheans interactive whiteboards are hugely popular in education, and the success is being replicated in the business market. They are proving particularly useful for training sessions as the audience is immediately engaged and material can be displayed from a variety of sources.

The Px software in the form of a floating toolbox enables content-rich presentations to be created and delivered with ease. Prometheans interactive boards and pads are operated by a pen which acts like a mouse and is used to select functions from the toolbox and control the desktop.

Prometheans portfolio includes Presentavote, an interactive ask the audience keypad voting system, and the companys range of interactive presentation and training products. To complement this range, Promethean also provides digital projectors and LCD monitors from market leaders Sharp and Sanyo, the Samsung range of digital presenters, and the Projecta range of projection screens.
