ECM yields impressive results

Document management and ECM projects providing strong returns

Recent research from industry association AIIM Europe has found that 40% of end users characterised their return on investment in document management and forms-scanning projects as better or much better than other IT investments, with a further 47% considering returns to be consistent with other projects.

As organisations develop their ECM (Enterprise Content Management) strategy to gain control of document processes, they find that significant amounts of paper are still swimming around, says John Mancini, President of AIIM. Capturing these documents and forms to digital, and re-engineering the subsequent processes, is producing significant productivity improvements - with the added bonus of on-going control of records for compliance.

The AIIM Roadshow (May 8th-12th) provides a valuable opportunity for both business managers and IT managers to update on what is possible, and what return on investment can typically be achieved from effective document management and ECM projects. The Roadshow hosts a Capture Centre. Visitors bringing samples of their own company documents or forms to the event will have them scanned at the Capture Centre and will benefit from custom demonstrations and focussed discussions as they tour the show floor. An extensive range of workshops, seminars and advice centres will provide a vehicle for shared experience and learning.

Subtitled Unravel Your Document Processes, the Roadshow will visit: Edinburgh on May 8th, Manchester 9th, Coventry 10th, Bristol 11th and London May 12th.

AIIM is the international association for Enterprise Content Management. It represents the information management community and supports the interests of users and suppliers of technologies and solutions used to capture, manage, store, preserve and deliver information in support of business processes..
