Using so-called self-checkout systems, consumers can scan, pack and pay for purchases on their own without the assistance of a cashier. When it comes to new, self-service technology of this type, fast electronic payment is an absolute must. Thales offers card payment solutions that can be integrated into such self-checkout systems.

The card payment functionality is integrated into the self-checkout system via O.P.I. (Open Payment Initiative), an XML-based interface developed specifically for the retail sector. Together with Wincor Nixdorf, Thales has successfully integrated its high-performance payment technology with the BEETLE/iSCAN checkout system.
