ThinPrints Content Beamer lets BlackBerry and smartphone users securely & conveniently print emails, attachments and complex documents to Pentax PocketJet printers while on the go.
Pentax Technologies Europe and ThinPrint GmbH announced today that they have partnered to bring the Content Beamer solution together with the Pentax PocketJet 3 printer to market. It lets users securely print from BlackBerry handhelds and other mobile devices, such as Symbian smartphones, to the Pentax PocketJet 3 BT/3Plus mobile printer which now includes a Bluetooth connection.
Equipping staff with mobile print options
Pentax Technologies Europe and ThinPrint GmbH joined forces to take advantage of new opportunities they see in the mobile market for Bluetooth printing. They particularly wish to target the numerous companies that have equipped their staff with BlackBerry devices in the recent wave of wireless technology upgrades.
Mobile users can now print emails and attachments as well as locally stored information from Bluetooth-capable BlackBerry handhelds, Symbian smartphones or Windows Mobile-based devices to the PocketJet 3 BT/ 3Plus BT printers.
"Staff using BlackBerry handhelds and Symbian smart phones really need this printing capability to support their activities when theyre on the move. Printing makes information retrieval more efficient, and this solution makes that very easy to achieve, even on-the-go," remarked Martin Mogendorff, General Manager of Pentax Technologies Europe.
The Pentax PocketJet printers are compact, lightweight and rugged for mobile use. As well as support for Bluetooth, the PocketJet3 and 3 Plus range have USB and infrared ports and support Windows laptops, Pocket PC and Palm OS handheld devices.
Fast attachment printing without downloading
Content Beamers print function makes it possible to print attachments in original format direct from the mobile device to the Pentax PocketJet 3/3Plus BT, without downloading them. Instead, the server component of the software sends a highly compressed print job to the handheld, so that it takes less time to print out the attachment than it would to download the file.
Alternatively, where layout is not important and the content is already loaded onto the mobile, as with email text, Content Beamer Local lets users on the go print out even faster with a "Direct Print" option. This sends the pure text directly in offline mode to the PocketJet 3 BT /3Plus BT, without going through the server.
Print Data guarded behind a security firewall
Content Beamer for BlackBerry uses the BlackBerry Enterprise Server architecture and security features. Print data is generated by the Content Beamer server and sent securely via the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to the BlackBerry, with both servers behind a firewall. At no time is either the document itself or the complete print job on the BlackBerry.
Prints even complex maps from the BlackBerry
Content Beamer for BlackBerry makes it possible to print all documents in their original formats to the PocketJet 3 BT / 3 Plus BT, including those that cannot or cannot adequately be displayed on the BlackBerry, such as complex maps, blueprints, and technical diagrams.
