Tees and North East Yorkshire NHS Trust has streamlined its teaching seminars to medical students with the introduction of Prometheans Presentavote an interactive audience response system designed to engage learning groups.

The technology has been implemented to aid the delivery of the Trusts medical student teaching programme at St. Lukes Hospital, Middlesbrough. Bryan OLeary, medical development manager at St. Lukes comments: The Presentavote system has enabled our teachers to bring presentations to life and keep the students attentive for longer periods.

It allows us to compare the views of the students without putting people on the spot, and in doing so, creates a fun and stimulating learning environment.

Integrating seamlessly with PowerPoint, Presentavote delivers an interactive training solution which allows group members to provide immediate feedback by using individual response keypads. The system also enables trainers to accurately and immediately assess whether everyone has understood a certain topic before moving on to the next area.

Ideal for use in any question and answer training scenario, Presentavote instantly records responses and allows the display of results as graphs, or the export of data to Excel for reporting at a later date.

Having seen what Presentavote can do for lesson delivery, the Trust now has further plans for using the system. Mr OLeary explains: Not only do we want to use this technology for medical student teaching, but we also want to use it to create more interactive meetings within the Trust.

Steve Dracup, managing director of Promethean (AV Distribution), said: They have implemented Presentavote into their teaching seminars with great effect. The Trust has seen how immediate feedback makes learning more effective, and how the interactive nature of the technology can make sessions more fun.

Tees and North East Yorkshire NHS Trust worked with Promethean reseller, County Durham-based KBR, to implement the Presentavote system into its teaching seminars at St. Lukes Hospital.

Distributing through a nationwide network of accredited resellers, Prometheans portfolio includes the Presenta and Activ range of interactive presentation and training products. To complement this range, Promethean also provides digital projectors and LCD monitors from market leaders Sharp and Sanyo, the Samsung range of digital presenters, and the Projecta range of projection screens.
