Bwe Bell + Howell Expands Low-Volume Production Scanner Line with Compact, Rotary-Only Model

Cost-effective addition to Truper scanner family features remarkable productivity, ease of use and image quality.

A new document scanner now available from BWE BELL + HOWELL Scanners combines exceptional speed and a high duty cycle in a cost-effective, low-volume production scanner.

The Truper 3600 was designed to help financial, insurance, healthcare and transportation companies convert documents into high-quality color and black-and-white digital images quickly, easily and reliably. The scanner is the newest addition to the Truper scanner family, following last years flatbed Truper 3200.

The rotary-only Truper 3600 was designed to be easy to use. The scanner ejects documents on the same side users feed them, making it simple and efficient to operate. With its compact size, the scanner is easy to maneuver around and saves space. The Truper 3600 features duplex scanning in full color, bitonal and grayscale for a range of small to mid-volume imaging applications. It scans at speeds of 62 pages per minute and has a daily duty cycle of 10,000 pages. The scanners automatic document feeder (ADF) holds up to 200 pages and handles documents as large as 11.7 inches by 17 inches.

Truper scanners are the only low-volume production scanners to come bundled with VirtualReScan (VRS) image enhancement software. To accommodate various image enhancement needs, the Truper 3600 includes VRS 4.0 Standard, or as an option, the VRS 4.0 Plus version.

Image Enhancement Features Save Time, Labour
Equipped with VRS 4.0 Standard, the Truper 3600 improves image quality, correcting for brightness, contrast, alignment and noise. With the optional VRS 4.0 Plus software, users gain additional image enhancement, including:

• Auto Color Detect, which automatically scans color documents in color and black-and-white documents in bitonal, even when mixed together.
• Auto Rotation, which automatically rotates scanned images to face the right way saving time in scanning transportation waybills, receipts and other irregular documents.
• Blank-Page Deletion, which eliminates the need to evaluate blank pages for content or to presort single-sided and double-sided documents.
• Advanced-Color Dropout, a feature that automatically removes up to six colors in a single document to satisfy forms processing requirements.
• The scanner also supports MultiStream technology, which delivers both bitonal and color images for each scan, through a direct connection with the ISIS driver.

A Very Effective Document Imaging System

Hyland Software tested the Truper 3600 and deemed it fully compatible with OnBase 5.0, the latest version of Hylands enterprise content management software suite.

Truper shares an interface and features with BWE BELL + HOWELLs full scanner line, said Hunt, making it a cost-effective, high-output counterpart to Spectrum XF and to the Sidekick workgroup and departmental scanner family.

In addition to VRS 4.0, the Truper 3600 includes a USB 2.0 cable and demonstration versions of VCDemo, Captivas QuickScan Pro capture and HiZOOM software. The scanner comes with a roller cleaning kit and blower accessory for maintaining image sensors. All Truper models share the same consumables kit.

Sold by BWE BELL + HOWELL value-added resellers, the Truper 3600 has list prices in Europe of US$8,295 with VRS 4.0 Standard and US$9,455 with VRS 4.0 Plus.  Each scanner is covered by a one-year, return-to-factory warranty outside the United States and Canada. Each scanner is covered by a 90-day onsite and nine-month depot warranty in the United States and Canada. The Truper 3600, which supports ImageControls, ISIS or TWAIN drivers, has CE (Europe), CCC (China) and VCCI (Japan) certifications for its sale.
