Konica Minoltas new multifunctionals offer high productivity

Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd has announced the launch of the Konica Minolta bizhub 420 and bizhub 500 multifunction document imaging systems.

The two new systems complete the bizhub product line-up with the majority of systems now featuring Konica Minoltas OP (Open Platform) architecture and EmperonTM driven Print System.

The bizhub 420 and bizhub 500 have A4 print speeds of 42 and 50 pages per minute respectively, with A3 print speeds of 23ppm for the bizhub 420 and 27ppm for the bizhub 500.

These multifunction, high-productivity systems copy and network scan (Scan-to-SMB desktop, Scan-to-eMail, Scan-to-FTP) as standard, with optional printing and faxing. The bizhub 420/500 also offer a sophisticated selection of on-line print finishing options and a generous paper supply.

An optional 40GB hard drive supports User Box functionality allowing up to 1,000 dedicated accounts. Personal and Public User boxes are available for archiving print, scan, copy and fax jobs, which can also me moved/copied from one box to another. Personal User Boxes can only be used by specified individuals and are protected by a box password.

Due to the importance of document security and document management in todays business environment, the bizhub 420/500 offers User Authentication as standard. If User Authentication settings have been applied, only authorised users can access the functionality of the system. In addition, it is also possible to enable or disable each users access to the device based on function print, scan, copy, fax and box.

As the bizhub 420/500 feature Konica Minoltas bizhub OP architecture, users benefit from a common look and feel among current and future Konica Minolta bizhub multifunction systems. The major components of bizhub OP are the bizhub Architecture and the EmperonTM driven Print System. The bizhub Architecture provides common system software that drives all functions print, scan, copy and fax.

The bizhub 420/500s optional Image Controller is driven by bizhub OPs EmperonTM Print System. The EmperonTM driven Print System allows for full control of the systems printing and finishing options, and provides for total integration of document output management with a simple, intuitive user interface. The optional Image Controller includes PCL5e/6 and PostScript Level 3.

The bizhub 420/500 have a print resolution of 2,400 by 600dpi with 256 greyscale levels producing clear text, sharp edges and smooth halftones. The bizhub 420/500 benefit from using Konica Minoltas patented Simitri Polymerised Toner with smaller, smoother, more uniform toner particles for more even distribution, significantly better fine line definition, and better solid fills.

An optional 33.6Kbps, Super G3 fax module provides fax functionality with black and white transmission, JBIG data compression, up to 600 by 600 fax transmit resolution and PC faxing.

Featuring a high monthly duty cycle and a maximum paper capacity of 5,650 sheets, the bizhub 420/500 can process media ranging from A6 to A3 in size and from 50 g/m2 to 210 g/m2 in weight. Optional finishing units are available for mail-bin sorting, stapling, punching and booklet making so the bizhub 420/500 can be used for complete document creation and finishing.

Also available for the bizhub 420/500 is PageScope, Konica Minoltas suite of integrated software applications and utilities that allow businesses to save time, reduce costs and increase productivity. PageScope delivers networked information flow from the desktop, enabling businesses to manage their bizhub documents and bizhub devices more effectively through a single interoperative system for increased efficiency.
