BancTec/Plexus releases latest edition of eFIRST Archive Improved support for document management compliance

BancTec/Plexus, have recently announced the launch of eFIRST Archive 2.75, the latest edition of its document and data storage solution.

The new release offers several upgraded features, including:
* Support for NetApp's Snaplock
* Upgraded support for EMC's Centera
* Improved scalability - support for clustered servers now enables larger organisational use
* Improved support for print archiving - documents extracted from the printer datastream and automatically indexed so that the document retrieved replicates the one printed.

Pete Dinham, international product director for eFIRST Archive, explains the benefits: "eFIRST Archive is in constant development, adapting to  meet and even exceed the needs of our customers. Compliance is a particularly crucial concern for document management, and archiving in particular. SnapLock and Centera are the leading hard-disk based WORM repositories  and eFIRST Archive's support for them is proof of BancTec/Plexus' commitment to the compliance market.  The latest developments in this product ensure that users have a complete, accurate, identical record to any document. This enables a complete audit trail for both external compliance and internal records."

The print archive module is extremely important both in compliance ensuring the enterprise retains an exact copy of every customer communication and in customer service environments where being able to see the statement or invoice the customer is referencing over the phone can be crucial to providing immediate support.

eFIRST Archive is a universal archive, intelligent information retrieval and knowledge management product. As eFIRST archive is object neutral, any type of data (text, image, audio, video and mixed media content) can be stored in one logical place according to business need rather than data type.  eFIRST archive also has the capability to write to tape and  optical media as transparent repositories. The eFIRST archive XML import and  query module will meet the growing demand for XML support in enterprise archive systems.

Based on international and de-facto standards, eFIRST archive uses the most modern multi-tier component architecture, which enables eFIRST archive to be highly scalable, reliable and manageable. All configuration and administrative tasks are performed using Java-based administrative tools, which include configuration of security, database and storage media.
