VENDORS PARTNERSHIP BRINGS BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES FOR NEBULAS SECURITY

Nebulas Security is set to treble its new installations within 12 months following the recent partnership deal between Sourcefire and Crossbeam Systems two of its key vendors.

As a leading provider of IT security solutions, the companys position has been further strengthened by Check Points acquisition of Sourcefire: Nebulas Security is now the only UK reseller offering all three vendors solutions. This acquisition and the partnership means Nebulas Security is perfectly placed to handle the resulting new business, according to Nick Garlick, the companys managing director: Were delighted that these two partners have integrated their technologies and that Check Point has acquired Sourcefire. Its the second time that Check Point has acquired one of our existing vendors (the first being Zonelabs) so we know the benefits and increased business that result from partner consolidation.

He continued: Both Check Point and Sourcefires applications run on the Crossbeam platform, so customers now have a true, single best of breed Unified Threat Management (UTM) solution enabling them to consolidate security systems with the resulting cost savings. As well as offering consolidation to larger enterprises, we can now bring the technical benefits and lower cost of ownership within the reach of smaller organisations. This provides great business opportunities and were looking to treble our number of implementations in the next 12 months.

According to Bob Tarzey of analyst firm, Quocirca, the Sourcefire and Crossbeam partnership has many benefits. Tarzey commented: The relatively high cost and complexity of implementing IDS and IPS has been a barrier to their broader adoption. Integrating Sourcefire with the Crossbeam platform should reduce complexity and makes the overall offering attractive to small and mid-sized organisations.

The partnership means that Sourcefires security technology is integrated into Crossbeams UTM Platform. Sourcefires innovative network discovery and intrusion management solutions are integrated with Crossbeams high performance, high availability platform. Crossbeams X series and C series products feature best of breed security applications (firewall/VPN intrusion prevention and protection, content security and web filtering) from leading security companies.

According to Viv Francis, Check Points Channel Director (UK, Ireland and South Africa), Nebulas Security is ideally placed to take advantage of the new partnership with Crossbeam. Francis commented: "Our acquisition of Sourcefire and the Sourcefire/Crossbeam collaboration will see three of Nebulas Security's key partners working closer together. As a result, Nebulas Security can offer a real unified threat management solution. Nebulas Security understands perfectly how all our solutions fit together and how they will benefit customers. I'm confident that we will all benefit from these new relationships and enjoy considerably increased revenues as a result".

Neal Lillywhite, Crossbeams Country Manager, UK & Ireland is similarly confident about the benefits for all three companies from this new partnership. He added: We've worked with Nebulas Security for some time and have seen how successfully they've implemented our solution for a number of customers. Given that both Check Point and Sourcefire are also Nebulas Security partners, I'm sure that this success will develop further as we address new markets and customers.
