McData and Hammer Announce Distribution Agreement

As part of the drive to further strengthen its product portfolio in both the small-to-medium business (SMB) and enterprise sectors, leading storage specialist, Hammer has confirmed an agreement to distribute the McData range of switches, routers and directors in the UK.

As a leading global provider of storage networking solutions, McData has an enviable reputation for the quality of its products, confirms Jason Beeson, sales director, storage solutions, Hammer. As a result, this agreement will enable us to offer our customers greater choice in a storage market offering real growth potential.

With Fibre Channel SANs becoming more affordable, bringing with it the potential at a mass market level for integration with existing wide area (WANs) and local area networks (LANs), with McDatas routers we can provide a first-class connectivity tool. At the same time, direct access to McData Intrepid directors strengthens our ability to provide a complete, tailored storage solution in the enterprise arena, an area of significant growth potential for Hammer.

Further, we have a well-established and highly successful switch business and the McData Sphereon range will allow us to meet our goal of providing customers with top-quality alternatives across our storage offering.

"Hammer is well known for being a highly focused and successful storage distributor," says Nigel St. George, regional manager for UK and Netherlands. "The success of McDATA's continued growth depends upon our working with and supporting partners, such as Hammer, which have the drive and experience to enable us to further expand our UK channel operations.

Our storage networking products, and in particular our new 4 Gb/s Sphereon fabric switches, are a perfect complement to Hammer's skills and expertise and I am looking forward to a long and successful partnership".
