Florensis selects CaptureTech and the Visidot Multiple-Asset Data Capture Solution for Shipment Verification and Asset Management

Florensis, one of the largest global flower producers with approximately 20 hectares (200,000 m2) of growing capacity, today announced plans to implement the ImageID Visidot system to track millions of its unique 'plug module' returnable plastic trays throughout its European facilities. Together with system integrator CaptureTech, Florensis plans to complete the installation of the system by Q4 2005.

Florensis will implement the Visidot multiple-asset Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) solution to provide the real-time status of all of their trays as they are transported throughout their facilities and as they are shipped to customers. Florensis said the Visidot implementation will "dramatically increase transportation efficiencies and improve accuracy of shipments to customers."

When planning the project, Florensis originally thought about using RFID to identify their trays. They approached CaptureTech, a leading data capture and track & trace solution provider, who suggested that Florensis try both the Visidot solution that reads hundreds of 2D Data Matrix in a single read, and an RFID-based solution. CaptureTech set up a pilot at Florensis facilities, where the Visidot system performed tens of thousands of reads on crates with accuracy above 99.8%. This above-99.8% accuracy rate included reads on very dirty crates with partially covered 2D Data Matrix labels.

Peter de Graaf, CIO of Florensis, said "Our crates get a lot of abuse and perform in difficult environments with high humidity, dirt, water, mold and more. We needed a data collection solution that could read entire stacks of crates quickly and reliably throughout our operations and that wouldn't be affected by the difficult conditions. CaptureTech came through with Visidot, which has proven itself as a robust and reliable solution."

"CaptureTech is pleased to be continuing its relationship with Florensis. As the leading Visidot integrator in Benelux, this major implementation is an excellent example of how CaptureTech offers flexible solutions, using combinations of barcode, Visidot or RFID technologies, to meet the unique needs of its customers," said Sander de Ridder, CEO of CaptureTech.

"We are very pleased with the Visidot solution vs. available RFID technologies, both in terms of reading quality and cost performance" said Danny Nadri, VP Sales, Europe of ImageID. "The cooperation and trust between Florensis and Capturetech were key factors in the success of this project, and give us confidence in our ability to further promote the robust Visidot solution in Europe."
