Wakefield Health Informatics Services (HIS) has standardised its storage environment using CAs BrightStor range of storage management solutions.
Wakefield HIS is the IT department for 2 primary care trusts, a mental health trust and 44 general practices, totalling 4,000 end users. The existing environment contained a number of different operating systems as well as the administrative headache of the number of different licences in place. Wakefield HIS were looking for a way to reduce complexity and total cost of ownership in terms of licence renewals.
Working with public-sector licensing specialists Trustmarque Solutions, Wakefield HIS chose CAs Brightstor solutions for the ability to meet all storage requirements. Capacity-based pricing also allowed them to recognise their total storage costs over the three-year period of the Agreement. Additional servers may be added at any time without additional cost.
Ben Jones, Healthcare Account Manager, Trustmarque Solutions said, Wakefield HIS was looking to standardise its IT environment on a Windows platform. At the same time it was looking for a single supplier that would meet all its storage requirements. CAs BrightStor range offers a wide portfolio of integrated solutions, plus the capacity-based pricing prevents costs from spiralling.
Gareth Bridges, Systems Manager at Wakefield HIS said, Health trusts do not have unlimited budgets, so saving time and money always has to be a consideration for us. Were very pleased with our choice. We evaluated solutions from several vendors, but CA was able to offer us a solution that covered all areas of our storage needs. By deploying BrightStor SRM we have already been able to de-dupe gigabytes of data. Additionally, the pricing structure means we expect to see significant cost-savings over the coming months.
Terry OLoughlin, CAs UK channel manager added, this deal only reinforces our partner strategy. Working with specialist partners such as Trustmarque means that we can, together, deliver greater value and expertise to customers.
