Safe and Sure Shipping

Mail and messaging specialist Pitney Bowes has released version 2.0 of its web-based Global Shipping Application (GSA).

GSA version 2.0 provides multi-country, multi-user shipment operations with an intuitive single point of control.

Todays competitive, ever-changing postal logistics environment demands solutions that are adaptable, accountable and intuitive to use. GSA meets these demands, allowing businesses to maximise the efficiency of package mail distribution and to effortlessly manage the flow of information governing such distribution.

GSA is designed for use within a warehouse, large mailroom or multi-location deployment environment, where target customers will be shipping between one hundred to thousands of shipments per day. Target vertical markets include manufacturing, print and publishing, apparel, electronics, spare parts, and distribution centres of any kind.

Global Shipping Application supports multiple countries and the respective rates, services, special fees and documentation for multiple carriers. Access to this information is automated, affording users maximum choice and expediting the entire shipping process.

Robust reporting capabilities give users a consolidated view of shipping data whether by carrier activity or shipment activity that would otherwise be difficult and time-consuming to obtain.

Tracking information can be automatically downloaded onto a companys website, enabling the user to view the status of a specific shipment, the date and time that the shipment was delivered and the name and/or signature of the recipient. Such functionality means that the recipient is no longer required to contact the carrier or go to the carriers website to track delivery, to the immense benefit of customer support departments.

In turn, the solution provides e-mail notification of delivery when the package has been despatched. The email will contain shipment details and will direct any delivery queries to the chosen carrier. The obvious benefit is the reduction in customer service calls from addressees.

GSA Version 2.0 also offers users a Ship With Other Goods (SWOG) function, which allows the shipper to consolidate multiple orders into one shipment. This function enables the user to manage last minute order and shipment changes with ease, further expediting the despatch procedure.

Fabienne Luisetti, Director, Pitney Bowes Distribution Solutions, states: GSA Version 2.0 is a unique solution that is carrier independent, scalable and has the flexibility to be customised to each customers particular requirements.

In todays deadline-driven, CRM-oriented business environment, overnight carriers, local couriers, and inter-office mail are more important than ever. Unfortunately, many companies overspend on these services and, worse, have no way of knowing how much these services are costing them.

The intuitive GSA solution provides businesses with vital information and control information that is key to cost-efficiency and customer satisfaction.
