ScanSource Europe Continues to Educate the Channel

ScanSource Europe, a leading pan-European value-added distributor of automatic data capture, electronic point-of-sale, and wireless products, is making significant effort to educate the channel. The activities include: a ScanSource EMEA Training Centre, Road Shows and Customer Training Events.

The ScanSource EMEA Training Centre (SETC) was launched in April this year. It provides technology resellers in Europe with comprehensive technical training on wireless and terminal products. Hands-on classroom instruction is available from ScanSource engineers in the UK, France, Germany and Belgium in local language. The rollout of the programme to the rest of Europe is in progress.

We are excited to provide technology resellers across Europe with convenient access to training on products and solutions that help them to get accredited by the vendors and therefore strengthen their business, said Rudi Kellens, Technical Manager for ScanSource Europe. The ScanSource EMEA Training Centre is a single resource for resellers who want to learn more about how to succeed with cutting-edge technology available through ScanSource Europe.

A more business oriented training programme, the Customer Education &Training (CET), complements the SETC. The aim of these one-day trainings is to bring to the resellers sales or technical teams information on new products and technologies in various vertical markets to enable them to increase their sales and market awareness.

Already in 2005, ScanSource Europe has organised five CET trainings with vendors such as Intermec, Datalogic and Datamax. These sessions took place in the UK, France, Germany and Italy, where representative from more than 50 reselling companies attended. In autumn, CETs for Hand Held Products are planned in France and Spain, and a new pan-European series of trainings for Symbol, Intermec and Datalogic will take place.

In addition to those programmes ScanSource also implements road shows throughout Europe, ensuring that ScanSource is close to the market place and delivers added value to the channel. This spring the focus was on Electronic Point of Sale. More than 200 resellers attended the events in the Netherlands, Germany and the UK, using the opportunity to learn about new products and solutions in the EPoS space. In the coming weeks ScanSource takes vendors like Symbol and Zebra on the road again throughout Europe.

We believe that providing access to new products and new technologies from our vendor partners and educating our reseller customers about them is an important part of being a truly value added distributor. Education is one of our major assets which sets us off from our competitors says Xavier Cartiaux, Managing Director of ScanSource Europe. It shows how committed we are to working in partnership with all players in the channel.
