Security compliance leader crosses the pond to launch in the UK

BindView, the IT security compliance expert, is launching in the UK.

Headquartered in Texas, the companys mission is to help businesses reduce the cost and complexity of complying with regulatory mandates and establish IT security compliance policies to sustain results. In the UK this includes the impact of regulations such as Basel II and SOX, and how they map to the ISO 17799 and COBIT frameworks, thus helping to restore investor confidence.

According to AMR Research, in the US alone, companies are expected to spend nearly $15.5 billion on compliance-related activities this year, with the total cost for compliance spending amounting to $80 billion over the next five years. Another $1.7 billion is predicted to be spent for consultants and external
auditing firms.

Generally speaking business trends in the US appear in the UK shortly after. UK organisations can therefore expect to face the same IT security issues as their American counterparts, said David Lloyd, Vice President of International Operations at BindView. Compliance-related spending is rising dramatically, with the influx of technical standards, frameworks and audits. The real challenge for organisations in the UK therefore is to not only to simplify the processes for meeting these requirements, but also to address the mandates collectively. BindView helps organizations automate these processes and reduce the costs associated with demonstrating compliance due care. BindView prides itself on being able to define, control and sustain compliance across enterprises with proven, practical solutions.

Security incidents, security compliance audits and new regulations are driving up corporate expenditures, and IT managers can no longer solve these as separate, independent issues, added Mr. Lloyd. The increase in threats, costly audits and the urgent need to comply has raised the bar for how global organisations in both the public and private sectors must respond. The challenge is to meet these new requirements not as a one-off exercise but as an opportunity for continuous improvement. The requirement to meet security and compliance requirements is not an either or exercise. Due diligence in security can translate into due care for compliance.
