Datalogic has added an additional product to its line of readers for retail environments the new Catcher presentation scanner for hands-free bar code reading. It is the ideal solution for check-out counter operations in retail markets and front-desk applications in office automation applications such as to manually read documents, envelopes and small packages in post offices and couriers.
The Catcher guarantees outstanding performance for data capture as a result of its state-of-the-art optics and electronics. Its omni-directional reading pattern of 20 lines and 1,500 scans per second assure a high first-pass decoding rate, which is important for applications that require immediate and intuitive reading. It is also provided with a single-line option, which can be activated by simply pressing the button on the reader, for applications where codes close to each other need to be read. It can read codes up to a distance of 28cm depending on the code resolution, and confirmation of the code read is given by a beeper that can be heard in loud environments an a bright LED that can be seen in well-lit ambient light conditions.
Advanced decoding technology increasing the reading performance on damaged or poorly printed codes. The data editing and formatting modes enable codes to be completely formatted before sending information to the host.
Datalogic has provided the Catcher with an interface for USB, RS232 and wedge connectivity as well as connectivity to IMB46XX cash registers. In addition it has an integrated EAS antenna for full connectivity to Nedap systems, to provide bar code scanning and EAS deactivation in one smooth motion.
It is possible to configure the reader with a stand-by mode to minimise consumption when not in use it automatically wakes-up when a code is detected. Additionally, as a result of the flash memory, the Catcher can be updated in-field, to keep it up to date with new functions and the possibility to read new symbologies.
For maximum user flexibility in hands-free operations it is also provided with a set of innovative accessories which include a desk stand that can be extended to reach a wide range of heights, and a wall support that can be adjusted in any position.
