LightPointe, the worlds leading manufacturer of optical wireless products based on free-space optics (FSO) technology, has announced Wadsworth Electronics is being appointed as its master distributor in the United Kingdom. Wadsworth Electronics will support LightPointes network of installer partners, actively promoting optical wireless products as the best solution for LAN bottlenecks.
Wadsworth Electronics has been at the forefront of optical wireless market growth and was selected for its staffs technical knowledge and experience of FSO-based products. The company was the first distributor to launch a commercial FSO technology product in the UK.

LightPointes optical wireless systems create Enterprise LAN-to-LAN connectivity between two or more buildings by transmitting data, voice and video communications via beams of light. They also provide backhaul for Mobile Carriers that are deploying 3G networks or need to expand network coverage. The companys license-free systems provide fibre-optic quality connectivity and throughput at speeds of up to 1.25 Gbps; and are prevalent in campus networks and in challenging environments, such as cities and heavily populated and built-up areas where huge savings are made by avoiding construction, trenching or securing radio frequency (RF) licenses.
