SYMANTECS NORTON INTERNET SECURITY 2005 SELECTED AS NEW SECURITY SOLUTION FOR HP COMPUTERS WORLDWIDE

Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the global leader in information security, today announced that its Norton Internet Security 2005 solution will now be preinstalled on all new HP consumer desktop PCs, providing expanded protection to customers worldwide. Mobile computers will transition to Norton Internet Security 2005 during the summer sales cycle, shipping in early May or June depending on the sales SKU.

Norton Internet Security 2005 is a comprehensive, integrated solution that includes Norton AntiVirus, Norton Personal Firewall, Norton Privacy Control, Norton AntiSpam and Norton Parental Control. Last year, both Norton Personal Firewall and Norton AntiVirus were preinstalled on HP PCs to protect consumers from Internet threats. The transition up to Norton Internet Security 2005 will allow consumers to enjoy a comprehensive Internet security solution that offers significant advantages beyond the existing protections provided by the two stand-alone products.

HP customers will receive a 60-day complimentary subscription to Symantecs protection updates. Once the subscription expires, the user has the option to purchase a 12-month renewal.

Because Internet threats continue evolving and consumers are demanding more protection, were gratified to offer HP and its customers a fuller, more integrated solution via Norton Internet Security 2005, said Matthew Moynahan, vice president, Consumer Products and Solutions, for Symantec.
