Intermec Trains Channel Partners in RFID Technology

Intermec Technologies has authorised twelve of its Honours Premier Partners and Value Added Distributors to sell its range of RFID products in Europe. The twelve received the authorisation after completing extensive RFID training and testing form Intermec and are: Agility Systems Limited (UK), Blackroc Technology Limited (UK), IMEC (Ireland), Klimax Etikettering (Denmark), INSA (Spain), UBS (Spain), Zetes (Portugal and Benelux), Phi Data (Belgium and Netherlands), Exim (Turkey), Barcode Technologies (Greece), Mobile Technology (Greece) and Dimex (Israel).

Each of the companies completed three in-depth workshops: Introduction to RFID, Installing RFID Solutions, and RFID Software Development. These courses provided qualified engineers with extensive knowledge of developing scalable RFID solutions, from surveying to installation.

Post-workshop tests required engineers to demonstrate their RFID knowledge to receive certification. Only companies which have achieved certification will be authorised to sell Intermecs market-leading RFID products.

Our strategy is to align with best channel partners across Europe and we believe in providing full training as a mutual benefit to our partners, said Peter Howes, EMEA channel director for Intermec. I am especially pleased that so many of our partners have been trained in RFID as we expect demand for the technology to rise significantly in the next year.

RFID is not an off-the-shelf purchase, said Howes. Creating a successful RFID implementation requires a full understanding of all of the issues associated with RFID, as well as knowledge of the companys business, operations, supply chain partners, ERP system, IT infrastructure. Through this training we ensure that Intermec partners will provide the necessary level of service.

Ruggedised Intermec RFID products include the IF4 and IF5 fixed readers, the IP4 mobile reader and the PM4i intelligent printer. Intermecs RFID equipment was the first to comply with the new approved European standards for RFID at UHF. Many companies worldwide have successfully implemented Intermecs RFID equipment. METRO Group, the worlds third-largest retailer and RFID pioneer, is enjoying 99% tad read-rates, as well as complete compliance with ETSI radio standards for operation in Europe.
