ZEBRA TECHNOLOGIES LAUNCHES NEW MOBILE PRINTER

Zebra Technologies Europe Ltd has launched a new mobile printer that will simplify reporting and monitoring for the direct store delivery industry. The RW 420, a compact and rugged mobile printer, will bring increased accuracy, speed and cash flow to companies such as beverage, bakery and snack suppliers, who deliver direct to stores.

Julia Read, vertical marketing manager for field force automation at Zebra Technologies explains: "The short shelf life of snacks and baked goods means that they cannot be supplied through an aggregated distribution model. Instead, these products are delivered by the suppliers on a route basis, the drivers replenishing stock to the required levels. Because of the variation in restock volumes possible, and the cost of oversupplying items that will go out of date, the monitoring of the number of products sold and returned is critical to the success of this kind of operation. The RW 420 makes this easy."

Designed for use with a terminal or PDA, the RW 420 is a mobile printer perfectly suited for on-demand printing of delivery receipts and invoices. Its modular design allows users to choose among wireless options, card readers and integral accessories such as vehicle mounts for simplified route printing. Its convenient vehicle mounting and charging options, as well as its user intuitive interfaces and angled display, allow for easy use for drivers on the move.

Read continues: "Industries reliant on direct store delivery have been grappling with the problem of accurate sales and distribution recording for some time. Some companies have adopted mobile in-vehicle systems to record sales orders and issue receipts but, often, these are bulky, prone to failure and inflexible. After listening to our customers, we knew it was time to give them a better tool for the job. They want smaller, more reliable printers that are easier to use, save on paper and process credit card transactions. These are the guiding principles that governed the development of the RW 420."

Zebra has used its 35-year history of developing printing applications to create the RW 420. Zebra's on-demand thermal printing ensures fast, consistent, highly-legible printing, under even the most demanding weather conditions - all at the point of transaction. A unique charging cradle, which features a one-handed release push button, can be mounted easily in a delivery vehicle, eliminating the risk of lost data due to a dead battery.
