With twenty three production plants, Bakkersland BV is the market leader for bakery products in the Netherlands. The Group is split into two divisions. The Bread division comprises seventeen bakeries producing fresh bread and cakes, baked daily, together with part-baked and pre-baked bread. The Pastry division comprises six bakeries producing cookies and pastry products with a longer shelf life.

Bakkersland BV supplies much of the retail market in the Netherlands with bread and pastry products. Their aim is to deliver consistently high quality products on a daily basis. To help them attain this goal, Bakkersland need reliable equipment that is easy to operate and maintain.

As a group Bakkersland BV consider Imaje as their preferred supplier for coding equipment and already operate in excess of 28 printers from the S7 range of inkjet printers, as well as Crayon Plus and Crayon Extra large character printers.

The Wateringen plant has recently started production of a new range of products. It comes as no surprise, therefore, that the newly installed Multivac and Tiromat packaging machines are each equipped with an S7 inkjet printer coding onto partly baked bread products in pre-packed gas filled packages.

We particularly like the Imaje S7 printers because of their compact size, explained Mr Van den Beukel, Packaging Manager at the Bakkersland Wateringen site. Space is at a premium on our packaging lines and we needed printers that required the minimum amount of space. Additionally, we wanted to have the capability to move the printers easily from one packaging line to another, as the need arose. The S7 printers are small and quick and easy to install and therefore met all our criteria.

The Wateringen bakery produces 5,000 baguettes and up to 25,000 petits pains per hour. The S7s operate at speeds of up to 2,500 prints per hour, printing a best before date, machine number, line number, time of packaging and date of packaging onto the products ensuring Bakkersland maintains complete traceability of their products.

Once packed and coded, the bread products are placed into cardboard secondary packaging. These cardboard boxes are then coded using Imaje Crayon Plus large character printers, a further indication of Bakkerslands confidence in Imaje products.

Wim Hendriks, Imaje Account Manager, believes Bakkersland Wateringen are a role model customer. Bakkersland understand the importance of good quality training to ensure their equipment is always used to its optimum potential. The operators using the Imaje equipment are all fully trained enabling them to solve any minor problems themselves. The printers are regularly maintained to ensure reliability is not compromised at any time.
