The New Viper-NET Industrial Mobile Computer with Windows CE .NET Operating System

Datalogic has introduced a new mobile computer in its industrial line of products for warehouse business solutions - the Viper-NET, a rugged pistol grip terminal with Windows CE .NET architecture.

The Viper-NET has been designed to meet the requirements of modern demanding warehouse management systems in the distribution and retail or manufacturing industries. It is suitable for applications such as shipping and receiving, inventory and price verification, shop-floor data capture and baggage reconciliation providing improved data accuracy, real-time information and increased operator productivity.

The Viper-NET extends Datalogic's range of mobile computers for industrial applications powered by a Windows CE .NET embedded operating system, providing companies with a tailored solution for mobile applications. It is equipped with an Intel X-Scale microprocessor, for high performance, reliability and power efficiency.

Like the Vipe it is protected against dust and water (IP64), can resist drops from 1.8 metres and can operate in temperatures from -10 to +50C. All this makes the Viper-NET withstand the daily rigours of warehouse applications even in sub-zero environments.

The user interface includes a QVGA colour display with enhanced contrast for improved readability and a touch screen option. The display can accommodate well-known character-based screens and modern graphic web-pages. To suit any user requirements the Viper-NET is equipped with either an alphanumeric or numeric keypad for easier data entry, and an audible key-beep and tactile feedback.

To provide the best solution for data collection in warehouse applications, the Viper-NET has two different laser modules for near distance and extra-long distance reading (up to several metres).

As with all of Datalogic's latest generation of industrial mobile computers, the Viper-NET supports the RadioReady concept to meet the needs of customers with pre-existing Wi-Fi radio infrastructures. Additionally, the Viper-NET can be equipped with a WPAN (wireless personal area network) IEEE802.15 Bluetooth interface, to connect with mobile printers or computers using this technology for short range communications.

The new Viper-NET mobile computer with Windows CE .NET operating system combines the functionality of Windows with real-time processing support for portable computing devices, making it the next generation of smart, connected mobile computers for efficient data management in any warehouse.
