Abacus Introduce 3M Electronic Materials Product Range

The Abacus Group has been appointed to distribute a selected range of products from 3M ESD, significantly expanding Abacus' existing electronics market solutions from the company.

3M Electronics Solutions Division (ESD) has been enlarged following the merger with the 3M Electronics Materials Market Division (EMMD). The Abacus Group is the first 3M ESD Franchised Distributor to be given access to the products from the newly formed business.

Andy Urbanczyk, 3M channel manager visualises the joining of 3M's globally recognised brand of interconnect, engineered tapes and adhesives providing a core range of design-in solutions for the electronic manufacturing services industry. "With specialist materials such as EMC/RFI shielding tapes, thermal management, protection products, adhesives and bonding materials together with high speed, high density, customised interconnect, this merger provides a synergy of focused key products enhancing 3M's portfolio and offering real value, innovative solutions to our customers."

Andy added that it's a win-win-win for 3M, Abacus and the customer. "Customers not only have the opportunity of design-in solutions from a global, brand-leading source they also receive the added benefit of an enlarged product, logistics and total service offering from Abacus enabling potential reductions in the current supplier base resulting in overall cost benefits."

Commenting on the announcement, Tim Parker, marketing development manager at Abacus said, "Our strength within 3M's distribution network has given us

the opportunity to provide our customers in the electronics manufacturing sector with greater purchasing options from a single source."

The wide variety of products now available through Abacus, addressing electronic manufacturing services applications includes very high bond and thermal conductive tapes, pcb protection products together with UV curing adhesives and thermal transfer products.
