Spinal Injuries Association uses ReadIRIS Pro to help digitally catalogue historical documents

I.R.I.S. Group, a publicly traded Belgian Company (Euronext Brussels: IRI), a market leader in Automatic Document Recognition (ADR), Electronic Document Management (EDM), Archiving and Storage and Optical Character Recognition (OCR), today announces that the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA), has used ReadIRIS Pro 9 to help it recreate historical documents and articles into an accessible and searchable, online digital format.

Nick Youens, IT Officer, Spinal Injuries Association comments: SIA has acquired thirty years of information in a variety of formats, and a lot of paperwork. It was decided to create a digital archive so that all this historical information could be made easily accessible. We had previously used a flatbed scanner with accompanying OCR software to start digitally capturing documents, which produced results filled with errors, requiring additional time to correct. The OCR and PDF conversion facility in ReadIRIS Pro seems to provide a much more reliable (and therefore time-effective) digitising process.

Pierre De Muelenaere, President & CEO of I.R.I.S. Group comments: There are many OCR applications on the market but none with an OCR engine as powerful as ReadIRIS Pro 9. The SIA are taking full advantage of the ReadIRIS Pro export to PDF feature. This is enabling the SIA to OCR documents straight into PDF format, ready to place online within their intranet in an editable and searchable text form. Readiris Pro 9 is the perfect start when creating a document and knowledge management solution!
