Axis launches Channel Training Academy for UK Channel Partners

Axis Communications, the leading IP surveillance vendor, has launched its own Training Academy to help UK IT and network resellers to break into the expanding market of IP-Surveillance. The first open-to-all training day took place on 2nd December 2004 at Tewin Bury Farm, near Welwyn Garden City and the next one will take place in February 2005.

Axis is tailoring initial training days to meet the needs of IT resellers who already have extensive network integration skills but are looking to develop another income stream by diversifying into the new high-growth market of IP-Surveillance by integrating CCTV systems into customers existing network infrastructures. This market is currently experiencing a growth boom, with 30 per cent Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) projections between 2005 and 2008.

The in-depth, classroom-style training courses cover a range of issues such as:

-Introduction to the network camera versus the traditional CCTV system
-Converting analogue CCTV to digital signals (and the reverse)
-Configuring IP-Surveillance systems including issues such as compression selection, resolution, bandwidth management, motion detection, day/night capability, storage and archiving of images
-Legal requirements

Aasim Ashraf, director of Axis partner A2Z Computers Limited, commented on his companys attendance at the first Axis Training Academy: Three senior contacts here found the event very useful. The hands-on sessions where we were able to set up different cameras and use Axis software to present feeds from a number of different cameras was particularly insightful. Since this training session we have elected to install a nine camera demo site in our own offices and use this to illustrate the benefits of IP-Surveillance to potential customers. We expect to have everything in place by Christmas.

Dominic Bruning, managing director of Axis Communications (UK) Limited, commented: The time is right for us to offer this Training Academy as part of our Channel Partner Programme complete with an in-depth channel accreditation scheme. Network integration firms are always looking for the next opportunity to extend their offering.

There is now great demand for IP-Surveillance and the technology is already mature. Those that can gather the right level of knowledge and skills will do very well in this market over the coming years. These courses will fast-track those that grab the opportunity.
