BLACKSPIDER LAUNCHES MAILCONTROL IN FRANCE

Email security company, BlackSpider Technologies, has begun expanding into Europe with the launch of its MailControl service in France. The company has grown rapidly since it was founded in June 2002 and now has over 800 enterprise customers, including Atkins, Companies House, Panasonic Mobile, Eversheds and EasyJet. The expansion is in part funded by 4.6 million (6.6 million) investment from Cazenove Private Equity, which it received in 2003. BlackSpider will be the first major managed email service provider to open an office in France.

BlackSpider France will be headed by ex-Allasso General Manager France, Olivier Breittmayer, who will report direct to John Cheney, BlackSpiders CEO. The company will follow its UK strategy of selling entirely through a network of channel partners, systems integrators and ISPs, supported by a dedicated sales and marketing team based at BlackSpiders offices in Paris.

BlackSpiders award-winning service, BlackSpider MailControl, is an outsourced service that gives complete protection against email viruses, spam and harmful or inappropriate content. Viruses, spam and content are filtered at the Internet level, blocking unwanted email before it reaches the corporate network. MailControl comprises of three elements which can be provided separately or as an integrated solution:

MailControl Spam, which detects and stops more than 98 percent of all spam emails (figure independently verified by West Coast Labs, April 2004). This saves bandwidth, reduces disk space utilisation, releases IT resource and saves download time

MailControl Anti-Virus, which provides 100 percent protection against all known email viruses (it is the only managed services in the world to achieve Checkmark anti-virus certification). It combines three industry-leading anti-virus engines Symantec, Kaspersky Lab and McAfee Security with its own heuristic engine, Huntsman. Huntsman allows viruses to be identified using not just virus signatures but also email trend analysis, which means it can recognise and block harmful spam within the critical window of exposure, the period between the propagation of a virus and development of a patch

MailControl Content, a configurable filtering tool that identifies email messages that are offensive, malicious, breach company confidentiality, or that overload the corporate network. It can be adapted by companies to enforce their individual corporate email usage policies, and protects employers from legal liability of unwittingly exposing them to offensive content.

The cost of the BlackSpider MailControl service in France will be in line with that of the UK; at typically 3 per user, per month.
