Tandberg Data appoints new Sales Director for Europe

Tandberg Data, the leading European data storage company, has recruited Gary Preston as its new sales director for Europe. Gary joins Tandberg Data straight from Overland Storage where he believed he had developed the business to its full potential in his position as sales director northern Europe.

Preston explains: This is a huge challenge and one that I am relishing the prospect of. I simply could not turn down the opportunity to join Tandberg Data at such an important point in the roll out of the companys European strategy. We already have a strong brand name and reputation, as well as a broad portfolio of leading products. My goal is to help Tandberg Data to further grow the business significantly especially in the area of tape automation and storage solutions. This will be achieved through assessing our current sales and marketing capabilities and building an aggressive and knowledgeable team. You will soon see a more dynamic Tandberg Data.

Gary previously held positions at both Fujitsu, as technical sales business development manager, and Hammer Ltd., as business development manager for disk and tape products. It was at Overland Storage however where he excelled as part of the senior management and played a major role in turning Overland from a company with hardly any market presence, into a brand name synonymous with top class storage solutions.

Gary Prestons management skills and energy will contribute to the execution of our growth strategy across Europe. He will be a strong contributor to enhance Tandberg Datas sales and marketing initiatives, says Knut Aulund, executive vice president at Tandberg Data. We are proud to get Gary on board and look forward to working with him to strengthen our position.

Tandberg Data is actively moving resources into mainstream European markets and building on its strong position as preferred partner at the VAR level. According to a market research report published in August by CMP-Weka (research + consulting), about the most known Hardware-Storage-Solution providers, Tandberg Data takes third place in the German channel behind HP and IBM, but ahead of Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Seagate, EMC, StorageTek, Sun, Dell and Iomega.
