SNIA vice-chairman to head EMEA storage product marketing at Computer Associates

Jason Phippen has joined management software expert Computer Associates (CA) as product marketing director for its BrightStor brand across EMEA. Formerly director of EMEA Product and Solutions Marketing at VERITAS, Phippen will drive the aggressive growth of CAs storage business.

Phippen has 16 years experience within the storage industry and is the current vice-chairman for SNIA Europe. His career began in 1989 with Digital Equipment Corporation and he went on to hold senior positions with MTI Technology, SCH Technologies and most recently VERITAS Software Corporation, where he built the EMEA product marketing division.

CA has a very strong product suite in Brightstor and is ahead of the curve in terms of pricing models and storage integration. We need to translate that into increased market share at the expense of the closest rivals, said Phippen. There are cases where the Brightstor brand is better known in storage than CA, and we have to show the market that this is a CA success-story, and not just a product success-story.
