The New DV9500 Vision System from Datalogic

The new DV9500 Vision System is a complete solution from Datalogic for high performance linear and 2D code reading applications based on vision technology. It is suitable for applications such as sorting on conveyors in the transport&logistics and distribution industries, and work-in-progress on the production line in the manufacturing sector.

The Vision System is made up of two main subsystems: image acquisition and image processing. The image acquisition subsystem is composed of the DV9500 camera system, external mirror, LS lighting system and sensors, and all this together takes care of capturing the images and passing them on to the decoding system by means of a video bus. The image processing system processes the images received from the video bus and includes the DD9500 decoding system and, where necessary, the DC9500 camera controller.

The DV9500 camera system offers excellent reading performance with a large reading area, since it is equipped with fast 6k CCD sensors to capture high-quality grey-scale images of parcels transported on fast conveyors (moving up to 3m/sec). In addition it has an advanced patented auto-focus system which covers a large DOF and detects the object shape to provide accurate top/side reading. Furthermore, the camera system has a high reaction speed, therefore, it can read even when there is minimal gap between parcels.

Multi-side configurations with up to six sides (top, bottom, side) are possible with the DV9500 camera to respond to any market need. Installation and replacement of the camera are easy due to its compact size and light weight. In addition Datalogic provides its Genius(tm) configuration software with its wizard-style add-on for easy system set-up. The camera comes in an industrial sealed case without fan or filter, making it more reliable and suitable for use in dusty environments. Diagnostic tools and remote control enable the camera to be effectively supervised.

The LS series of lighting systems is a completely new generation of illuminators from Datalogic, with the best performance in the market, to facilitate the capture of high quality images and ensure an excellent read rate. All possible applications (top/side, top/bottom, high-speed) can be covered due to the choice between high pressure sodium vapour lamps and LED illuminators.

The DD9500 decoding system is equipped with one industrial PC decoder for each camera installed, to process high speed video signals with maximum reliability. It can quickly decode omni-directional degraded symbol images even on cluttered backgrounds, and auto-discriminate between most popular symbologies. Once again installation and set-up are made easier with the Genius(tm) configuration software from Datalogic.
