Omron Europe B.V., has appointed a new Distributor for the United Kingdom, who will begin promoting the companies magnetic stripe and smart card reader solutions with immediate effect. Aures Technologies has been a specialist in selling to OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) for the retail sector since 1989, and has represented Omron in France since formation, also in 1989. 
In 2002, Aures Technologies established an office in the United Kingdom (UK) in Cheshire. A local inventory of product will be established in Cheshire together with a product servicing facility, which will operate in close collaboration with Omrons European Repair Centre based in the Netherlands. The retail-banking sector in the United Kingdom continues to be one of the largest within Europe; with in excess of 860,000 PoS (Point of Sale) terminals and 42,000 ATMs in use and 120 Million bank cards in circulation. The Chip & Pin rollout following the 2003 trial in Northampton is a major focus for the partnership. Together with Omron, the new partnership will focus on Chip & PIN solutions for the UK market, specifically on Unattended Payment Terminals (UPTs) for in-store payment and product information kiosks. New products for Chip & PIN, a system to reduce fraudulent bank card handling within ATMs (Automatic Teller Machines) and products supporting Mifare are now being released by the partnership.
