HHP, the worlds leading provider of image-based data collection systems, is joining forces with Expert Peripheral Designs Ltd (ExPD), an independent barcode systems integrator and software developer, to provide a complete asset tracking solution. ExPDs versatile software package, Asset-i, will be made available with several products in HHPs Dolphin family of mobile computers.
Asset-i enables companies to keep track of their fixed assets (such as IT equipment, furniture and vehicles). Each item is identified by a unique barcode number that is linked via a database to a unique location label. By scanning the barcode, users can move, add or dispose of assets whilst keeping track of each item. The system therefore provides a very effective way of managing and auditing fixed assets - rapidly, accurately and easily.
ExPD has been a reseller of HHPs Dolphin mobile computers for several years, and believes that they are the ideal hardware solution for use with Asset-i. Director Bob Fenton explains: The Dolphins are very well built: they are extremely reliable, durable and represent excellent value for money. The HHP units are ideal for any company that wants a powerful mobile computer that will withstand the rigours of even the harshest working environment.
Asset-i has already been used effectively with the Dolphin 7200. However, in the future it will probably be used mainly with HHPs Dolphin 7900 (to be released later this year), and with the Dolphin 9500 and 9550 - two recent models that use the Microsoft Pocket PC platform. These are particularly suitable for users that need a more heavy duty mobile computer.
