Datalogic, Europe's largest manufacturer of bar code readers and portable data collection terminals, announced today that it has signed a Quality Partner contract with Channel Connect for the UK market. Channel Connect provides a true one-stop-shop for retail hardware, making this an ideal partnership to expand Datalogic's footprint in the retail industry.
The Quality Partner network, established in 1996, is Datalogic's first level channel of distribution in the industry. Under the agreement, Channel Connect will provide Datalogic's comprehensive range of bar code readers and portable data collection (PDC) terminals designed specifically to meet retailer's growing requirements. These include the Heron, a hand held reader and presentation scanner in one, developed to satisfy all requirements at the POS; the Gryphon series suitable for data capture for POS in-store environments and shop inventory management; and Firescan, a laser reader capable of reading distances of up to 75cm, ideal for check-out activities in cash and carry stores.
Particular focus will be given to the ever-popular Datalogic Viper - a ruggedised, pistol grip laser terminal (both batch and Wi-Fi enabled) which is available in CE and DOS versions. The Viper is particularly suited to retail warehouse applications and is offered with a comprehensive range of middleware for systems developers. Channel Connect will also handle the forthcoming Datalogic Formula Colour - a lightweight laser terminal featuring an advanced colour display. This product is aimed at front end retail applications such as inventory control.
"This partnership demonstrates our continued commitment to the retail industry," commented Ugo Sogaro, managing director of Datalogic UK. "Channel Connect is an established and renowned value added distributor in the UK and we are delighted to have such experience working alongside us to achieve our end goal - to streamline retail operations to ensure competitive advantage."
"Datalogic's extensive product range, designed specifically for the retail industry, perfectly compliments our business," said Chris Woodall, general manager, Channel Connect. "Our partnership with such a driven and successful company will undoubtedly deliver what retailers need."
