Alphameric champions UK retail

Alphameric, the leading UK-based retail solutions provider, has completed its restructuring with the appointment of Jeff Stokoe as sales director. Stokoe, who has over 20 years experience with large IT organisations, joins from distance selling solutions provider Zendor.

Following the acquisition of Compass Software last year, Alphameric has been focusing on integrating the two companies and ensuring that the business is closely aligned with the needs of its customers. Alphamerics new business strategy has already involved the appointment of Andrew Blatherwick (formerly of JDA) as Managing Director of the Retail Division. Ian Bowater, formerly chief executive of Compass Software, is now Alphamerics Director of Retail Strategy.

Andrew Blatherwick believes Alphameric has a flagship role to play in the retail technology market. He explains, UK retailers do not respond to the one-size-fits-all approach that is often typical of US-focused suppliers. There is no getting away from the fact that the retail market in the UK is different. We feel it is best served by UK solutions providers, who develop for the UK, operate in the UK and are able to provide full UK support. The combination of Alphameric and Compass has brought together best-of-breed approaches for all the challenges that UK retailers face.

Stokoe echoes the enthusiasm of Blatherwick and Bowater. Alphameric is a sleeping giant in the UK retail solutions market, he states. The company has masses of retail experience, offers leading class products at every level and completely understands the UK mentality. The retail supply chain sector is a mature, well-understood market. What we are seeing now is the rise of business intelligence in retail and Alphameric is perfectly positioned to exploit its range of breakthrough applications.

Alphameric is focused on two key business areas: Enterprise Solutions and Business Intelligence. This allows Alphameric to address changes in the retail solutions market, with an increased focus on enhanced relationships with its clients. Recent new customer wins for Alphameric include Bonmarche and Focus.
