Cloud computing is a model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction. These services are hosted by a cloud provider, and are available to organisations of all sizes. Cloud computing

Cloud computing is the delivery of computing services—including servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics, and intelligence—over the Internet (“the cloud”).

These services are hosted by a cloud provider—a company that provides the computing resources and infrastructure over the Internet.

Cloud computing offers several advantages over traditional on-premises IT, including:

  • Scalability: Cloud computing resources can be scaled up or down as needed, so you only pay for what you use.
  • Flexibility: Cloud computing services can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection, so you can work from home, the office, or on the go.
  • Cost savings: Cloud computing can help you save money on hardware, software, and IT staff.

There are four main types of cloud computing:

  • Public cloud: A public cloud is a cloud computing infrastructure that is open to the public. Public cloud providers, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), offer a wide range of cloud services.
  • Private cloud: A private cloud is a cloud computing infrastructure that is dedicated to a single organization. Private clouds are typically more expensive than public clouds, but they offer greater security and control.
  • Hybrid cloud: A hybrid cloud is a combination of a public cloud and a private cloud. Hybrid clouds offer the best of both worlds, providing the scalability and flexibility of a public cloud with the security and control of a private cloud.
  • Multicloud: A multicloud is a deployment strategy that uses multiple cloud providers. Multicloud can help you improve reliability and performance, and it can also give you more flexibility in choosing the right cloud provider for your needs.

Cloud computing is a rapidly growing market, and it is expected to continue to grow in the coming years. As more and more businesses adopt cloud computing, it is becoming an essential part of the modern IT landscape.

Here are some examples of cloud computing:

  • Email: Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo Mail are all examples of cloud computing services.
  • Storage: Dropbox, Google Drive, and iCloud are all examples of cloud storage services.
  • Databases: Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) and Microsoft SQL Azure are both examples of cloud database services.
  • Software: Salesforce and Workday are both examples of cloud-based software applications.
  • Networking: Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) and Microsoft Azure Virtual Network (VNet) are both examples of cloud networking services.
