Convergence Systems Limited (CSL), a global provider of passive RFID products and active RTLS equipment, has announced that Round Rock Research, LLC (Round Rock) had granted CSL an RFID patent license. The agreement provides CSL with a license to the complete portfolio of RFID technology patents held by Round Rock.
As a result of the non-exclusive license agreement, CSL and its customers can continue to deploy RFID solutions worldwide, free from claims they are infringing Round Rock patents. CSL designs and manufactures RFID readers, RFID antennas, BAP tags, RTLS solutions and a range of RFID application solutions that have been implemented around the globe for security, logistics, temperature monitoring, inventory management and more.
"We chose to sign the RFID reader and tag licensing agreement, as have many other RFID vendors, because we did not want the threat of potential litigation to become an issue for our customers," said Jerry Garrett, CSL Managing Director. "Although CSL has not been implicated in any patent infringement, by signing the agreement we are protecting CSL's customers from potential Round Rock lawsuits."
"Round Rock is pleased to add CSL as one of our RFID licensees as we continue our support for new products entering the market for RFID applications," Jim Burris, Round Rock's Vice President, Licensing.
