Jarltech Europe GmbH, Europe's large special distributor for POS and auto-ID hardware, has incorporated the newest scanning hardware for the POS in retail from Datalogic, the Heron HD3430, into its portfolio. The new Heron is an area imager for capturing 1D barcodes, complex 2D barcodes and images. It combines high-tech with an elegant look and a large variety of possibilities for customisation.

The quality of the housing simplifies integration into a given environment, as well as a special brand image. The LED lighting on the sides and top are freely programmable and light up in the colour of your choice, so that the Heron HD3430 may be individually colour-coordinated with its environment, or in a corporate colour. Datalogic offers two standard housing colour variants: a stunning black carbon-fiber look or a white silver look. For a uniform brand image the imager also offers opportunities to incorporate a company brand identity (starting with a low number of quantities ordered) by combining a highly visibly placed company logo with the top cover colour with customised visual and audio feedback via the integrated polyphonic speakers.

The Heron HD3430 functions as both a flexible handheld scanner as well as a presentation scanner, for simple hands-free operation. The scanner recognises when it is removed from the stand included in the delivery, and automatically switches between both modes. Thanks to its imager scan engine the Heron is also explicitly suitable for mobile marketing applications, since it captures both printed codes as well as digital ones from monitors and smartphone displays.

The Heron HD3430 simplifies barcode capture for users with an integrated 4-point target acquisition with crosshairs. Like all Datalogic barcode scanners, the imager also features Datalogic's patented 'Green Spot' technology for visual good scan confirmation. It confirms each successfully scanned barcode with a green LED dot directly on the barcode. For maximum flexibility when connecting, the Heron features a multi-interface for integrated USB, RS232 and keyboard wedge interfaces.
